My experience of working from home and the right environment - Alexis Neil

3 years ago, I very rarely worked from home, I was a road warrior and always out seeing customers or in the office fast forward 2 and half years and I spend 90% of my time now at home.

How do I manage, at first I created routines I still got up 2 hours before work, sometimes I went for a walk or exercised but lately I use the time to relax, repeat some affirmations and worked on my Insta.

I always get ready for work, somewhat casual these days but I am always up dressed and ready for the day, might not have the full face or work power outfit on but I am ready for what appears to be a more relaxed world now.

I make sure my day has routine, so first things first an an Earl Grey tea and breakfast and work through the catch-up emails and plan my day ahead.  I make sure I always take a lunch break and regular breaks throughout the day, and I usually finish on time (I am a believer if you can’t get your job done in your daily hours there is something wrong) work life balance is so important now so I make sure I attend bootcamp either first thing in the morning or after work Monday to Friday.

Now my office set up has changed over the last 2 years moving from one room where I struggled with light and a window behind me to now working in my dressing room, why does this work it works for me as I have the perfect roman blind to shut the light out, I have a nice big window to the side of me and my office space has plants, crystals, daily nail care and lip care at the ready.

Make sure your desk has enough space to work, 2 monitors are a must, keyboard and desk are the right height and the screens are elevated to eye level. I also have some additional devices around me like noise cancelling headphones, wireless keyboard, mouse and wireless charger

My desk is a modern twist on the standard desk with light wood, white legs and I have additional shelving to my left with my files, printer and to my right I have my drawers which house beauty and work necessities.

For me its all about comfort, my chair is a lovely pink backed and winged chair with wheels which I now have on an easy glide mat.

Lighting is equally important, from the blinds (I have a roman Blind in an Dusky Blush colour) if the sun is low or high and glaring, I can adjust it easily, to a desk lamp and good overhead lighting for the darker months.

My office reflects my personality and I have my most loved treasures around me, like Candles, Dried flowers, Faux Flowers and crystals.
