All Things Interior Trends - Alexis

Hi again!

For the next blog in my series, I will be chatting about all things interior trends! I don’t know about you, but in the past few years I have redecorated some of the rooms in my home several times. There is just so much choice on Tik Tok, Instagram, Pinterest and in interior magazines. I just become so inspired by all the lifestyle content that is available, and I want to make the most of the space I live in.

There have been so many amazing trends in 2021 that I really enjoyed.

  • In my own home, I am obsessed with venetian plaster and metallic paints. I just love how the light bounces off the walls and creates a really dramatic space. Anyone who visits my home really appreciates the metallic paint and it is often mistaken for wallpaper due to how dynamic the paint is.

Other trends I am currently enjoying include

  • wall paneling
  • herringbone flooring
  • LED lighting pendants
  • Macrame
  • Feature walls - seem to have been a big hit in 2021, creating a fixture we need in a room we spend most of our time in.
  • We also seem to be moving away from purely grey homes into greige and neutral tones, creating more warmth.
  • I must admit my favorite trend of 2021 has to be a neutral palette scheme with influences of rustic Scandinavian style. This incorporates wicker and rattan to the inside of our homes.

Moving on to 2022, there are several trends that I see being really popular in the next few months…

  • curved furniture
  • dark and moody spaces
  • colour pops of green/mustard
  • dramatic lighting
  • concrete venetian plaster
  • traditional bathrooms with a modern twist
  • pastel external doors, fences and seating areas in our gardens.

This year I am focusing on my ensuite and downstairs cloakroom. My inspiration is dark and moody with a focus on dramatic lighting, printed feature wallpaper, dark brick tiles, dark grout, butlers sinks and old-fashioned radiators. Think old meets new with a touch of glam. For those of you decorating living spaces this year, statement furniture is going to be a must.

When it comes to bedrooms, the best advice I can give you is to create a space that you never want to leave! Think statement, neutral schemes, hotel luxury. You want to fall flat on the bed and sink into those cushions. Create that tranquil, calming space that you know you deserve! And remember to surrender to the power of your happy place once in a while.
